2018 NSG results and Thank you note

Dear all,

It has been a hectic term for the gymnasts participating in this year's NSG. We have achieved very encouraging results and the gymnasts had worked hard, with sweat and pain, for it. They should get a pat on the shoulder for the perseverance and discipline exhibited, training so diligently and executing each gym element to the best of their ability during the competition. Besides the gymnasts, I have to express my sincere and heartfelt thanks to:

a) Parents of all the gymnasts for being so supportive, cooperating with all the training and competition logistics. Many of whom also came down to watch the competition and give moral support.  

b) The dedicated coaches, Coach Feng Songzhi, Coach Xu Wengang and Coach Jiang Kun, who often worry about the competition and their well-being more than the gymnasts. 

c) Mdm Ler and Mr Lee who personally visited the gymnasts at the competition arena. This really boost their confidence and morale. Mr Lee also came during the final prize-giving ceremony to interact with the gymnasts. 

d) The supportive, considerate and understanding team of teachers in charge - Mdm Sabariah, Mdm Elaine Teo, Miss May Ng, Mdm Peng Xinyi, Mrs Yvonne Tu, Miss Shanice Lim and Miss Josephine Li. Without their help, gym CCA can't operate smoothly. 

e) Miss Mae Yang and school leaders (Mdm Ler, Mr Lee, Mr Chan and Mdm Ng) for the advice and support shown to gym CCA. 

f) Supportive staff from the General Office, Mr Ko, Ms Neo, Ms Vivian Li, Ms Farrhana and Mr Woo for all the help rendered behind the scene.

NSG Artistic Gymnastics Finals and Prize-giving Ceremony

Congratulations and well done to our Girls Development Team Level 2! You've clinched the Team Championships!    

Below is a copy of the schedule given beforehand, on the last day of the NSG- Artistic Gymnastics.

Fri (13/4) Judge Tam Ms Li

Girls/ boys involved Mdm Peng There is no finalist from our school.

7.30am – 12.10pm

Selected girls/boys to report to coach at 7am. All competitors not competing on Fri must 1) report at Bishan by 3.30pm if you're not taking the school bus. 2) attend the prize giving ceremony at 4 pm to 6pm 3) arrange for own transport home

Ms Lim Mrs Tu to take competitors not competing on that day to Bishan at 2pm by bus. Liaise with pupils on logistics.

Mrs Yvonne Tu will be the teacher in charge of taking all pupils by school bus from school to Bishan Sports Hall to watch the Secondary Finals of the competition, followed by the Prize Giving Ceremony. 

1. All competitors will eat in the canteen after school and gather at Meeting Point latest by 2.10pm.  School bus will leave at 2.30pm. 
2. Change into leotards to attend the ceremony.
3. Ceremony will end about 5.30pm-6pm. Parents to fetch competitors home after taking group photos.  
4. The Girls Development Team Level 2 will receive prize during the ceremony.   

Term 2 Week 6 CCA suspension

Please note that there's no CCA in term 2 week 6 (23 April -27 April) due to Chinese oral exam for upper primary pupils.

points to note for NSG (updates in red)

Above are the NSG rules and regulations. Below are some points that pertain more to us and need to be highlighted. Gymnast will be penalised by deduction of scores if they don't adhere to these rules.
I'll keep updating this page if there are further points.

1) No coloured bandages if used. Only beige or skin-coloured
2) Must attach the official number tags.
3) Must attend prize-giving ceremony especially when gymnast is receiving a prize. Failure to do so, medal may be confiscated.
4) No coach instruction/ assistant during routine.
5) To maintain discipline throughout the competition.


Internal school logistics and matters:
a) Arrange for your own transport to and from Bishan Sports Hall if it is not stated that transport is provided.
b) Teachers in charge will distrubute the hard copy of the various routines to individual gymnast. Please look at the deductions and execute your elements with the least deduction possible.
c) Girls to pay subsidized cost of leotard to Ms Shanice Lim. Boys leotards are here. Please collect from the gymnastics teachers. Payment to be done after I'd received the final invoice and informed all about the cost. 
d) Purchase a NYPS gym red Polo T-shirt from Mdm Elaine Teo ($10) if you still have not owned one. Do not need to purchase this Polo T-shirt. There is no enough small size in stock. Apologies! 
e) Inform your subject teachers on the days of your absence due to competition. Take responsibility to collect and hand in work assignment.
f) Parents are highly encouraged to attend the competition to support your child. After which, you will pick up your child to go home together. 
g) Wear competition leotard and shorts for Friday's prize presentation. 
h) Refer to the post on NSG for programme booklet. 
i) I will be giving our hard copy of the competition schedule (NYPS version) to individual competitors as some parent stated that the alignment is different when they view the blog from the phone. So, some info may be misread. 
g) The number tag is attached to the hard copy. Please take good care of it. If the competitor lost the tag, a deduction will be made to the performance score.

For competitors who do not have the Red Polo Gym T-shirt, please look for Mdm Elaine Teo and pay $10 for it (subsidized rate).  Boys and girls to wear competition leotard and shorts for the prize giving ceremony.  

There are still girls who have not paid for the leotard. Please remember to to pay to Ms Shanice Lim. Boys' leotards will be delivered soon. Please be patient. have been distributed to boys who attended training on 3 April. I'll let parents know about the cost when I get the final invoice. Payment will be done after that.  

All competitors to have the responsibility to inform their subject teachers on the competition dates and arrange for homework to be collected and submitted at a later date.  

There will be changes on the teachers in charge of each day as the judges schedule has not been finalised. However, that does not affect the competition schedule.
